Heat prompts changes to Valley school athletics

August 15, 2012 Updated Aug 15, 2012 at 10:10 PM PDT

With temperatures in the triple digits for more than a week now, Valley school districts have been taking special precautions.

Today at the Clovis West practice field players took to the field later than usual at 5 p.m.

It's one of several adjustments Clovis Unified has in place when the temperatures reach 105 degrees or higher.

A spokesperson also said there is plenty of water close by and mandatory breaks every 10 minutes.

Fresno Unified limited athletic practices to only mornings on Monday and Tuesday of this week and has no practices between 2 and 6:30 p.m. through the remainder of the week.
