Fresno Getting More Prisoners and Less Money

The first report on California's prison realignment is out. The Central Valley is carrying more burden than anywhere else.

While some counties are seeing less prisoners than expected, Fresno is seeing more. The state is giving money to the counties to help shoulder the load.

That money is not being handed out evenly. Bay Area and Sacramento counties received more money from the state, even though they took on less prisoners than expected.

Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims would like to see that money directly tied to the number of inmates a county takes on. State officials are now reviewing that proposal.
