A special reenlistment ceremony was held at the Visalia Public Cemetery next to the grave of Cpl. Verbeek.

It was there that Sgt. Diehm reenlisted in the United States Marine Corps.

Back in 2008, Cpl. Verbeek and Sgt. Diehm talked about reenlisting together, and making a career of their service, to support their families.

Cpl. Verbeek was killed in 2011 while serving our country in Afghanistan.

Sgt. Jonathan diehm: "I chose to bring it to him because he was more than a brother, more than a Marine to me."

Cpl. Verbeek will never be forgotten by the community he represented.

It was just last summer that the South Giddings overpass along Highway 198 was designated as the Corporal Jared Verbeek Memorial Overcrossing.
