Fresno Police and CHP are investigating an officer involved shooting at Highway 99 and McKinley.
Detectives are still trying to figure out what led a CHP officer to open fire on the driver.
Fresno police say they're investigating a collision.
Michael Reid, Fresno Police: "Obviously it was a criminal or traffic violation. So the person has a reason to be upset sometimes and sometimes those things escalate because we don't know who we're dealing with."
The driver of the car is a man in his 30's.
He's in serious but stable condition, and was the only one in the car.
Fresno police say the officer involved was not hurt.
