A Madera family is grieving the loss of a 19 month old child after investigators say the toddler's mother accidentally backed her SUV over her daughter.
The little girl has been identified as Merlyn Cruz Hernandez.
It happened around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at a home on the 26000 block of Martin Ave in Madera.
According to the CHP, the mother thought the child’s uncle was with the little girl inside the home.Instead the toddler somehow ended up outside and was right behind her SUV.
Authorities say the mother wasn't going very fast, but the impact was enough to cause fatal injuries.
