(Press Release) A North Fork man, at first suspected of dealing drugs, winds up behind bars after deputies discover he’s wanted for failing to pay child support.
44-year-old Arthur Helmic was arrested Thursday in Oakhurst.
Deputies were sent to a shopping center’s parking lot after the Sheriff’s Office received a tip that a man was there selling drugs.
When deputies arrived on scene Helmic told them he didn’t have narcotics on his person, and none were found. However, deputies did find an active $10,000 warrant issued for his arrest.
Helmic was transported to Madera County Department of Corrections, booked for failure to pay child support. He posted bail shortly after his booking.
