A man had to have 26 rabies shots after being savaged by a pack of wild coyotes in his back yard

Faron Scarberry was walking his pet dog when the pack suddenly lunged at him, snarling and biting. He was able to fight off the dogs but suffered scratches to his hands and arm.

Scarberry was also bitten on the leg and had to have multiple rabies shots after being admitted to hospital.

The attack took place outside his home in Kent, Washington, as he took his pet dog for a walk.

Scarberry told a local news station 'One of them lunged up towards me and I kind of pushed it away with my hand and its front claws scratched my hand and wrist. Then one of the grabbed me by the pant leg and started shaking my leg so I just started kicking and hitting at them to get them off of me and they ran back under the fence.'
