Randall Davis 51, has been identified as the man a sheriff's deputy shot and killed Monday night in the 5000 block of East Thomas. A toxicology report and autopsy are being performed, and the investigation is pending until both of those reports are available.
Monday night a sheriff's deputy responded to a call of a man trying to kill himself.
That man then charged the deputy. The deputy fired one shot, after which the gun jammed.
A struggle ensued. Another deputy arrived on scene a short while later.
More shots were fired and the suspect was killed at the scene. No deputies were seriously injured in the altercation.
