A Merced man is facing attempted murder charges after attacking a police officer with several knives during a confrontation.
Police say Lou Seng Saeteurn attacked the officer with several steak knives when the officer was questioning him about a shots fired call in the area of East 11th and D street.
Saeteurn sits in a Modesto area hospital after having been shot three times by the officer who feared for his life during the attack. During a search, two other knives were found in Saeteurn's possession.
Neither the officer attacked by the suspect nor any responding officers called on scene during the incident were injured. Saeteurn is currently listed in stable condition.
Saeteurn has been arrested in the past for threats to a family member in 2007 and in 2006 he was arrested for possession of a concealed knife. The police department has also handled several disturbance calls in regards to Saeteurn.
