Here's a chance to exercise your civic duty. People have until midnight Monday to register to vote.
It's going to be a busy two weeks at the clerk's office. The phones just kept ringing but the county clerk says that's a good sign. Brandi Orth expects several thousand to register today. She says for the last presidential election 71% of the county's registered voters showed up. Orth hopes to top that this year.
"We are prepared to have a very large turnout. We provide all this infrastructure and the county pays for it so we encourage people to come out and vote," said Orth.
Between 5:00 p.m. and midnight Monday poll workers are doing some curb-side service to help register voters. They will be out at the elections office on Kern street between L and M streets.
