A three-year-old Colombian boy who went missing while playing on a construction site was found a day later - clinging for life inside a sewer drain.

Jeanpier Silvera Arteta apparently fell down a drain Tuesday evening after becoming lost while playing with his brothers near the building site in the northern city of Barranquilla, according to El Tiempo newspaper.

Crews searching for Jeanpier found the child on their second search of the sewer system - 18 hours after the child went missing.

Video of the rescue shows the young boy, dressed in a green t-shirt, holding the side of the sewer as water rushed through the drainage pipe.

Rescue workers applauded as the boy was pulled from the sewer and rushed to an area hospital.
