(Press Release) The Los Banos Police Department announced that 21-year-old Francisco Esquivel and 26-year-old Joe Castillo, both of Los Banos, have been arrested for the August 7, 2011 murder of brothers Angel Rodriguez and Ruben Sanchez. A fifth suspect, 19-year-old Isaac Bermea, who is currently in custody at the John Latorraca Correctional Facility for probation violations, has also been charged with the murder.
Esquivel was taken into custody after turning himself in at the Los Banos Police Department on January 1, 2012 and Castillo was arrested by the United States Marshals Service on January 3, 2012 in San Jose, California. Esquivel is currently in custody at the Los Banos Police Department Jail while Castillo is in custody at the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
Castillo, Esquivel, and Bermea are being held in lieu of $2,200,000 bail charged with participation in a criminal street gang and two counts of Murder. There are no additional suspects in this investigation.
22-year-old Mando Lopez and his brother, 22-year-old Armando Lopez, both of Los Banos were also arrested for the August 7, 2011 murder. Both suspects were taken into custody Decmeber 28th by the United States Marshals Service in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
They were arrested on Merced County warrants charging them each with two counts of murder, participation in a criminal street gang, as well as firearm and prior felony conviction enhancements. Both are being held in lieu of $2,000,000 bail.
