The internationally known NoH8 Campaign held it's first Fresno photo shoot. It took place at the Big Red Church on Van Ness.
Hundreds of people showed up to get their pictures taken. The NoH8 Campaign is a photographic silent protest in direct response to Proposition 8 which bans same-sex marriage in California. The photos taken for this campaign feature people wearing white shirts, duct tape, and "NoH8" signs on their faces. Organizers say this symbolizes their voices being silenced.
"In the valley we're silenced a lot it's really paramount that people here feel they have a voice, not just about the issues but the whole California issues as well. It's great," said Gay Central Valley member, Kaylia Metcalfe.
The First Congregational Church of Fresno and Gay Central Valley helped coordinate the first no-hate event, in Fresno. The campaign's next stop is San Francisco.
