A new floor at the Fresno County Jail is keeping inmates from walking out early, at least for now.
The county opened the floor Saturday morning with 432 beds, but those beds are filling up fast. As of Monday afternoon, nearly half of them had been taken.
Jail staff expect the floor to be at full capacity in just two weeks. At that point, inmates could be released early.
There is one more empty floor at the jail, the county is hoping to open it by the end of the year.
