(Press Release) A 31-year-old North Fork man is behind bars facing child molestation charges.

Madera County Sheriff's deputies arrested Jose Burgos who called the Sheriff’s Department shortly after 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, saying that he got drunk Saturday night and evidently assaulted a child at a home in North Fork. He said he thought she was someone else. He said he felt guilty about it and needed to speak with a deputy.

Deputies met with him at his home where he was taken into custody.

Jose Burgos remains behind bars at this hour booked on suspicion of molesting a child under the age of 14, and penetration of a foreign object. He currently remains jailed with bail set at $100,000.
