(Press Release) An Oakhurst man was arrested by sheriff's deputies, believe to be the person responsible for a bomb threat tied to the closing of the Bass Lake Courthouse.

William Shannon Reed was arrested Tuesday afternoon by deputies near Dale Lane and Road 426 in Oakhurst just after 1:00 p.m. Deputies say the 42-year-old was standing beside a stolen truck with a flat tire when he was apprehended.

An investigation began last Tuesday when Cal Fire Investigators and Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the Bass Lake Courthouse located on Road 274. An incendiary device had been set off; along with a bomb threat phoned into two local news agencies.

After following up on a number of leads and tips, deputies identified Reed as a suspect.

Reed, who is on parole, was also found to be in possession of Methamphetamine at the time of his arrest.
