Fresno County election officials say it could be several days before all ballots get counted. Final results in Orange Cove could be even more hard-fought.
Four councilmembers could lose their seats.
Glenda Hill and Frank Martinez are facing a recall effort.
Gilbert Garcia and Gloria Esther Gonzalez are up for re-election.
Leading the opposition candidates is former mayor Victor Lopez. He's strongly opposed the current council since he was unseated in his last re-election attempt. Lopez was the mayor of Orange Cove for 20 years.
Joining his efforts are former councilmembers Bertha Del Bosque
and Diana Guerra Silva. Ralph Pardo is making his first run for public
office as the fourth council hopeful.
Supporters of incumbents and opposition candidates made accusations of voter fraud on Tuesday. City and County officials confirmed they responded to a handful of disturbances, but none of them
warranted an arrest.
An official with the Fresno County clerk said results as of Wednesday evening are far from complete. They mostly represent absentee ballots, which so far have supported all but one city councilmember. If the numbers hold, Gloria Esther Gonzalez would be unseated by Victor Lopez.
