The issue of privatizing trash pickup in Fresno was once again a hot topic Tuesday night during a special meeting held to give citizens a chance to voice their opinions.

The proposal from the city to outsource trash pickup is still a controversial one.

There's been opposition from city workers, council members and customers.

Proponents of the plan say it’ll save the city millions of dollars.

The meeting was part of series put on by councilmembers Oliver Baines, Blong Xiong and Sal Quintero; all three are opposed to the outsourcing plan.

It's not yet clear when the matter will come before the council for a vote.

Last year the city of Fresno approved outsourcing commercial waste pickup in an effort to balance its budget.
