Would-be robbers in Madera were thwarted by an alert business owner. They fired, and he fired back.

It happened around 6:30 Tuesday evening near Almond avenue and Emily Wy. Two men stormed a pharmacy, one of them was armed.

The armed robber fired and hit a woman inside the business. That woman's son, who's also the owner of the pharmacy, fired back.

He hit the armed robber three times as he made his way out the back door. That man collapsed less than a block away.

The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital where he eventually died. The woman that was hit will be okay.

Meanwhile police are still looking for the other suspect. They say as long as the store owner purchased and stored his gun legally, he will not face any charges.
