Residents in a small neighborhood at Herndon and Fresno were in danger of losing water services, after city officials voted to void a deal made back in 1985.
That deal gave residents unmetered city water after Highway 41 construction took out the area's main well.
But in May, the city voted to cancel the deal because it put them in violation of another deal: a Federal contract signed in 2005.
It requires the city to have all of it's water customers metered by the 31st.
The problem is, these residents are not customers of the city.. But rather, of the Pinedale County Water District.
Angelica Galindo says she and her neighbors pay their bills, and can't understand why they'd lose their water.
"I mean, to think of, you know, to lose our water supply, where would we get our water from? We don't know what our other resources are."
Public utilities director Patrick Wiemiller says there are alternate solutions to shutting off the water, and there's no intention of cutting off paying customers.
They just have to hammer out how to avoid that with the Pinedale County Water District.
One option is to meter the district, not residents.
"One way or the other we just need to be able to meter the service, and we can only do that if we have a new agreement, and that's all we've asked for."
The injunction granted today means the Pinedale Water District has until January 31st, instead of the 31st of this month, to work out a new water deal with the city.
