A parolee is now behind bars, after he led CHP officers on a high speed chase.

CHP officers say at around 12:30 p.m. Friday, the suspect was speeding on Highway 41, in Kings County. When officers tried pulling him over, he refused to stop. That is when a 45 minute high speed chase started. Speeds reached 120 miles an hour. The chase ended in Fresno County.

“It had gone off road into some orchards. We had an air unit involved in the pursuit and it eventually ended in the alley between Clara and U street,” said CHP Sgt. Robert Breunell.

The driver took off. There were three passengers in the car. They were taken into custody, but were later released.

“We gained information that our driver was inside the residents here. 5842 Clara,” explained Breunell.

Officers found him hiding inside one of the bedrooms. Investigators say he had drugs on him, when he was arrested.

Carol Martinez is the suspect's girlfriend. She said his name is David Barrera.

Martinez said, “He had no reason to run. I guess he was probably scared. He's a good guy. He's been doing really good.”

The suspect could face evading, drug possession and parole violation charges.
