(Press Release) The Fresno Police Department's Street Violence Section Gun Crimes Unit identified 19-year-old East Side Bulldog gang member Jesus Perez as an ex-felon in possession of a firearm. On Wednesday, officers of the Violent Crime Impact Team (VCIT) served the warrant in an attempt to locate additional evidence and to arrest Perez, but he was not there. Further gun crime evidence was located and so was methamphetamine.
As officers began to drive out of the area, VCIT saw Perez at a home down the street. He fled into the back yard, officers pursued him and he was placed in custody. Evidence of further firearm violations were found in the backyard.
Detectives authored a second search warrant for the home where they found Perez. During the search, a sawed off shotgun and a sawed off rifle were recovered. 20-year-old Lewis Street Bulldog gang member David De La Cruz was placed in custody for the modified illegal firearms and gang enhancements. He later confessed to possession of the firearms and was booked into the Fresno County Jail.
Jesus Perez also confessed and booked into Fresno County Jail for being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, and gang enhancements.
