The trial against four Fresno police officers came to an abrupt end Friday. After a five-week long trial, a hung jury is leaving both sides longing for a resolution.

Chris Coleman, Paul Van Dalen, Michael Manfredi, and Sean Plymale faced up to 20-years in prison for using excessive force and obstructing justice during an alleged cover up. The case stems from an incident in 2005 when Rolando Celdon was shot with a bean bag gun and was allegedly almost runover by a police cruiser.

By a jury vote of 9-3, the judge declared a mistrial and all four defendants left the downtown federal courthouse smiling. The district attorney could chose to retry the case.

A status hearing is scheduled for February 19th.
