Police Investigate Homicide of Valley High School Football Player

Fresno Police are investigating the shooting death of a Valley high school football player. It happened just before 8 p.m. Monday, in front of an apartment complex at Ashlan and Marks in Central Fresno. Investigators say when they arrived at the scene they found a victim lying on the sidewalk. Police are not releasing much information at this time. They are treating the case as a homicide.

Family and friends of the victim say he is 18-year-old Marquis Sutton. They say he was shot in the neck and back. They say he was walking with two of his friends when he was shot. Vincent Andrews is Sutton’s older brother. He says Sutton was taken to the hospital where he later died. Police have not confirmed any of this information.

Sutton’s family says he was a football player at Edison High School.

The investigation is ongoing.
