(WESH) The investigation into a dog attack on a swan at Orlando, Florida's Lake Eola is active and ongoing, police said Thursday.

The swan had to be euthanized after a dachshund attacked it Sunday.

Lake Eola's park manager said he's received no update as to whether investigators have made contact with the dog's owner.

Certified Veterinarian Technician Terri Barton worked on the male swan worth $500.

"He could not get up," said Barton. "When he was here, he was just sitting on the ground. We didn't have any pain response or any feeling of the feet. It was pretty severe and untreatable."

Winter Park Veterinary Hospital takes care of all of the swans at Lake Eola.

According to park rangers, a man released the dog from its leash and allowed it to attack the swan.

A witness, who took pictures of the incident, said she believed the act was intentional.
