Clovis police are investigating the theft of police ammo and supplies from vehicles in the Clovis East High School parking lot on Tuesday night.

Sometime between 5:45 and 8:00 last evening, three on campus were burglarized. The thief or thieves smashed windows on two cars to get inside. Property was also taken from the trunk of a car belonging to a Madera County Probation officer.

The officer called Clovis Police after learning that a black tactical vest with the words “Police” and “Gang Unit” on it and a badge were missing. The vest contained two 15 round magazines for a 40 caliber gun, an extendable baton, 2 pairs of handcuffs, pepper spray, 2 tactical flashlights and a police radio.

The probation officer was at the school to watch his son practice football. He said when he returned to his car, nothing seemed out of the ordinary and he left the campus. It wasn’t until this morning that he discovered the vest and its contents were missing.

If you have any information regarding these vehicle burglaries, you’re asked to call the Clovis Police Department at 324-2800 or CrimeStoppers at 498-STOP.
