Police chief Jerry Dyer called the thief "prolific." Wallace Omar Alley has been linked to several stolen vehicles. On Wednesday Alley led police on a chase and he prompted officers to fire rounds at him.
Chief Dyer says Alley was driving a stolen vehicle when officers and PD's autotheft team spotted it. Alley resisted arrest and fled. Dyer says he tried to run over officers and that's when officers opened fire.
The driver was hit twice. Alley continued to drive the vehicle with one woman inside. He lost control and slammed into a house. Alley and the woman were later arrested. Alley is expected to survive his injuries.
