The pictures of people arrested and charged with prostitution related crimes in Fresno will be posted on a new website, as part of the city’s latest initiative to crack down on soliciting.

“Operation Reveal" was unveiled by Fresno’s Police Chief Jerry Dyer, Mayor Ashley Swerengin, and other city and business leaders Thursday.

The photos will remain on the website fresno.gov/reveal for 15 days.

City leaders say the approach has been shown very effective in other communities.

In addition to posting photos of “johns”, the police department will be using more undercover officers, enforcing restraining orders and working with prosecutors to maximize sentences.

Dyer said prostitution is often seen by many as a victim-less crime, but he stresses that's not true.

He said there are countless other crimes related to selling sex, like drug use, gang activity, and human trafficking.
