A Navy Seal is attempting to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the most pull-ups in a 24 hour period.

Thursday morning on the Today show, David Goggins began his quest, saying he'll do 10 pull-ups per minute.

He's trying to break the current world record of 4,020 pull-ups. People have been watching him from a window of the Today show studio in New York City, where he's expected to finish Friday morning.

Goggins, now an ultra-marathon runner, once weighed in at almost 300 pounds. He's doing all of this to raise money for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which helps children of fallen heroes go to college.

Goggins has a message for everyone out there: "Just hold yourself accountable. don't quit. sometimes the world is bad, can get you down, but it's always about getting back up, and making something of a bad situation."
