(Press Release) On Tuesday afternoon at about 3:40 p.m., Fresno Police officers were dispatched to the area of Balch and 9th for the report of someone brandishing a handgun in a threatening manner. Witnesses said the man was driving a white Chevrolet Impala with a female passenger.
Several minutes later, officers spotted the suspect vehicle in the area Mono and 9th. The driver tried to evade police, but officers were able to stop the vehicle in the area of McKenzie & 11th. The Impala was reported stolen out of Kingsburg several days ago, but a false plate had been put on the car, a practice commonly referred to as “cold-plating.”
The driver, identified as 25-year-old Brian Hall of Fresno was arrested for being in possession of stolen property. After the original victim of the brandishing call arrived, he was also identified as the suspect and arrested on that charge as well.
The passenger, 27-year-old Irene Ayala of Fresno was also arrested. She was found in possession of a pill bottle containing several live rounds of .357 Magnum ammunition. Since she is a convicted felon, this was a violation and she was booked for being a felon in possession of ammunition. No weapon was located.
Hall was arrested last week after he led the Fresno Police on a high-speed chase through Fresno and up to Madera just last week; also in a stolen vehicle, and also with a reported handgun in possession. He was released from the Fresno County Jail last week, several hours after being booked.
