NBC is taking a second shot at developing a comedy series with Roseanne Barr.

Universal Television has inked a deal with the sitcom vet to develop a comedy for Barr to topline and produce. She'll collaborate on the project with producer Steven Greener, who worked with Barr on the Lifetime reality series "Roseanne's Nuts" in 2011.

Last year Barr toplined a comedy pilot for NBC and 20th Century Fox TV, "Downwardly Mobile." That pilot also enlisted John Goodman, her co-star on the 1988-97 ABC laffer "Roseanne," but the Peacock ultimately passed on a series order.

Barr will also be seen very soon on NBC's air as she's about to lense a three-episode guest arc on "The Office" as it winds down to its series finale. She'll play a talent agent who tries to help Ed Helms' Andy Bernard realize his showbiz dreams.
