The local Sikh community gathered Sunday morning to pray, and collect donations, for victims of the shooting massacre in Newtown, Connecticut.

A special ceremony was held at the Sikh temple at Fresno and Dakota.

Sikhs prayed for world peace, and the families of the children who died in the shooting.

Gurdeep Shergill, Organizer: "As everybody knows, the same thing happened at one of the our Sikh temples in Wisconsin. So we felt very touched by what happened in the elementary school."

Organizers also collected donations, about $2000, and will send the money to the school in Newtown.
