Second Suspect Arrested, Charged in Murder of Sanger Teen

(Press Release) Fresno County Sheriff’s homicide detectives have arrested a second suspect, 29-year-old Michael Voravong, in connection with the murder of Sammy Mercado.

On Sunday, shortly before 2:30 p.m., MAGEC deputies arrested Voravong at his home near White Avenue and 9th Street in Fresno. He was arrested without incident, and booked in to the Fresno County Jail on charges of murder.

Detectives are still looking for a third suspect. An arrest warrant has been issued for Marshall Voravong, the 28-year-old brother of Michael.

Marshall Voravong is described as an Asian male, 5' 5" tall, weighing 120 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Voravong’s last known address is also near White Avenue and 9th Street. Marshall Voravong should be considered armed and dangerous.
