South valley farmers will get some help after crops suffered weather damage last spring.
The Secretary of Agriculture declared a disaster in Kern and Tulare counties. A total of nine California counties are named in the designation.
The designation is based on damages and losses caused by freezing temperatures, high winds and excessive rain back in March and April. Farms in those counties now have eight months to apply for loans to help cover part of their losses.
