Patricia Krentcil, who is accused of allegedly bringing her 5-year-old into a tanning booth, pleaded not guilty, saying her daughter suffered a sunburn.

New Jersey's infamous “tan mom” has lightened up.
Patricia Krentcil, whose coppery complexion made headlines after she was arrested for allegedly taking her young daughter to a tanning salon, accepted a magazine’s challenge to lay off the rays for a month.
And while she’s not exactly beyond the pale, photos of Krentcil in In Touch magazine show her with just a healthy glow.
"I feel weird and pale,” the 44-year-old Nutley woman said.
Though she insisted she’s done with serial tanning, Krentcil admitted she misses her daily visits to the salon and may still “squeeze a tan in here or there.”
Patricia Krentcil was charged with child endangerment after she allegedly took her 6-year-old daughter Anna (right) to a tanning salon.
She claims she’s still baffled by the hue and cry over her skin, which had the tone and texture of a baseball glove in some photos.
“The whole world tans — so why are they picking on me?” she asked.
