(Press Release) The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office arrested 45-year-old David Frausto Guerrero of Fresno, who was wanted in connection with the sexual assault of an 8-year-old girl.

The incident began Tuesday night, shortly after 11:30 p.m. when deputies responded to the area of Olive & El Capitan regarding a sex offense call.

When they arrived, they contacted two young girls, ages 8 and 14. Deputies learned that the younger girl had been touched inappropriately by their mother’s boyfriend, David Guerrero. Guerrero told the young victim that he would kill her if she told anyone, but both girls later snuck out of the home to call the Sheriff’s Office.

A records check of Guerrero found him to be a registered sex offender.

Deputies then responded to a home near Olive and Brawley Avenues. When they knocked on the door, Guerrero answered but later slammed the door shut and would not respond to repeated commands for him to come out of the house.

Deputies entered the home and found Guerrero was hiding in a crawl space beneath the house. K-9 “Oka” was sent in after Guerrero who fought with the dog. Assisting deputies fired several bean bag rounds at Guerrero before he finally agreed to come out of hiding.

Guerrero was arrested on several charges including lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, assault on a peace officer’s dog with injury, resisting arrest, and dissuading a witness.

He was booked in to the Fresno County Jail, but not before going to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of several dog bites and beanbag strikes.

K-9 “Oka” also received treatment for cuts and bruises he suffered during the incident.

During the investigation, it was learned that Guerrero, a self-proclaimed street gang member, was possibly under the influence of PCP.
