Traffic on the northbound 110 Freeway just south of downtown Los Angeles was halted Friday afternoon as police officers on foot searched all vehicles in hopes of finding armed bank robbers.

Traffic was stopped at three different points on the freeway as officers made their way through the gridlock searching for suspects. Aerial video showed at least two people being taken into custody.

Around 1:20 p.m., the freeway was reopened and traffic was returning to normal levels.

The search was believed to be linked to a bank robbery in Moreno Valley.
