The standoff started just before 1:30 p.m., Thursday. Coalinga Police tried serving a search warrant at 42-year-old Lloyd Fryrear's home on East Valley Street. Detectives believe he owns a number of illegal weapons, including rifles, and automatic handguns.

Fryrear and his mother refused to get out of the house. That is when CHP and the Fresno County SWAT Team came out to help. They surrounded the home and threw tear gas inside. Fryrear's mother came out of the home about 20 minutes later. She is now in police custody. Deputies say Fryrear has been arrested for violence and drug possession in the past. His neighbors believe this time around, he did done nothing wrong.

During the time of the standoff, detectives were not able to confirm if there were other people inside the home.
