Fresno police are cracking down on auto thefts. There have been over 700 fewer cars stolen this year compared to last.

Police say overall there's been about 100 less cars stolen every month. That's a 24% drop over last year.

Police attribute the reduction to more public awareness about auto theft. They're reminding residents to always remain vigilant, lock car doors, and never leave anything out in plain sight.
