A Subway sandwich maker has been arrested after allegedly placing a hidden, motion-activated camera inside one of the restaurants' bathrooms.
Marco Dias, 21, was arrested on Thursday after a customer at a Darien, Connecticut restaurant discovered the camera that police say shows Dias setting up the camera beneath the bathroom sink.
Upon his arrest police also discovered that Dias, who was working at two Subway restaurants within the area, was an illegal immigrant, revoking a decrease in his $50,000 bail on three federal counts of voyeurism.
Angled at the bathroom's toilet, the footage confiscated by police showed three victims - two men and a woman - unknowingly exposing themselves.
Appearing on camera after the camera's placement, Dias also allows himself to be filmed while using the toilet.
According to Darien Police Detective Chester Perkowski, the camera's angle appeared more focused on seeing the men's genitals than the women who'd be seated.
Asked Dias' reaction to his arrest, three days after the camera's discovery on Monday, Det Mark Cappelli told WTNH: 'I'm not sure about being remorseful or not. He certainly was shocked.'
Police reviewing the device found that it was designed to look like a regular USB thumb drive but had a built-in rechargeable battery and was motion activated.
The footage obtained would be stored on a micro-SD card, Detective Perkowski wrote in his report according to the Patch.
