New information has been released in Monday night's officer involved shooting. The suspect has been identified as 37-year-old Anthony Joseph Romero of Fresno.

It happened in the 4800 block of East Mono Avenue when police issued a warrant for Romero's arrest. He was wanted for drug possession and resisting arrest.

One of the officers who tried to make the arrest says Romero was reaching for a gun. That's when the officer opened fire.

A .357 revolver and drug packaging material were found at the home. Romero, a bulldog gang member, is hospitalized in stable condition with non-life threatening wounds. He will be booked into the Fresno County Jail after he is released from the hospital on charges of possession of methamphetamine for sales, resisting arrest, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The officer involved in Monday night's shooting, a 7 year veteran of the Fresno Police Department, is on paid administrative leave.
