One young man with very low hygiene standards has been caught on video licking the entire length of a New York subway handrail from top to bottom for only $1.
The unidentified teenager performs possibly the grossest dare for the lowest price imaginable with only his one dollar and YouTube fame to show for his brush with the handrail which thousands of people touch each day.
Already the stunt by the presumably hard-up kid is being hailed as the most disgusting bet ever, but that doesn't seem to cross the guys mind as he triumphantly parades his dollar bill after performing the top to bottom tonguing of the handrail.
In fact, one microbiologist has told NBC News that the boy would have been safer offering to lick a public toilet seat.
"If anyone dares you to lick anything in public, lick a toilet seat,'' said Charles P. Gerba, who works at the University of Arizona. ''It would be safer to lick a toilet than a handrail on a bus.''
The microbiologist said that he had examined germ levels in public places such as bus seats, handrails and toilet seats and found that while a bathroom contains about 50 microorganisms, a handrail has hundreds of thousands of bacteria.
