Barbara Martin is the valley's Dairy Goddess. Sure, she's self proclaimed, but her label seems appropriate. She lives on a dairy, she blogs about it, and makes wonderful cheese with the milk from it.
Barbara says, "It goes straight from the cows into the vat and then into our hands and magic is made."
Barbara began the magical process of turning fresh milk into cheese three years ago. She took a cheese-making class and refined her recipe for Fromage Blanc: a soft, spreadable cheese in a variety of seasonings.
It's a real family business. The milk comes from the family cows.
Her daughter Terra mixes and measures the finished product. It's hand-packed and sold at farmer's markets and stores around the valley (Whole Foods & Lassens).
The Martin's recently added whole milk and chocolate milk to the production. The customer base for these farm fresh products is growing.
According to Barbara, "When people are buying this they're getting the farm and our family."
