(Press Release) Sheriff John Anderson credits a Madera County citizen for the arrest of three scrappers accused of stripping 500 feet of power line that belongs to Union Pacific Rail Road.

53-year-old Bonnie Baker and 45-year-old Bret Harmon, both of Madera, were captured on Saturday. By Sunday morning Deputy Marcos Plascencia tracked down a third suspect, 46-year-old Terrie Metzler, of Chowchilla, taking her into custody as well.

The Sheriff’s Office received a tip Saturday morning. Three people appeared to be stripping wire in a vineyard near Avenue 12 and Highway 99. Nearby, 500 feet of electrical wire was missing – stolen from Union Pacific Rail Road.

The cost to repair the damage is estimated at $60,000. All three were booked into Madera County Department of Corrections with bail set at $100,000 each.
