To Get Out of Work, Teacher Makes Up Story of Killing Girl

People come up with the darnedest reasons for skipping work.

Sick kid, dentist appointment, running over a fictional young girl with your car and killing her — wait, what?!

Scottish music teacher Derek McGlone hit a very wrong note with his latest excuse for not showing up to his job at Calderhead High School, telling supervisors that he had “knocked a girl over” with his car.

“He said he felt his car wheels running over her body,” principal Joyce Kilmartin said. McGlone, who now has a 12-month reprimand on the teaching register, says he’s “embarrassed and sorry” for his actions.
