A toddler is safe at home after wandering onto a busy highway in Dodge County, Wisconsin.

Guadalupe Ollarzabal spotted the boy as he was driving along Highway 19 Wednesday evening.

"At first I thought it was a raccoon but it was too big to be a raccoon," Ollarzabal said. "I see a silhouette of something when I passed I saw him cross the street. He had a Superman outfit, pajamas."

Ollarzabal jumped into action.

"I slammed on the brakes, turned around. My daughter opened the door and grabbed the baby, asked for his name that's when she brought him in the car," he said.

"I was just shocked. I didn't know what to do," added Lydia Ollarzabal.

Sheriff's officials say the 2-year-old wandered from his house nearby while his dad was sleeping.

Now everyone involved is just thankful it turned out the way it did.

The sheriff's department says they aren't planning to charge the father.

They say it was an honest mistake.
