No one is more loyal to his colors than a farmer: John Deere green, Allis Chalmers orange and Farmall red.
But one Big Lake, Minnesota man has broken with tradition.
Karth Mitchell has painted a vintage Farmall tractor pink, in honor of his wife Laura who died of breast cancer in February at the age of 46.
"Looks nice don't it," smiles Mitchell. "I think she would have liked it."
The 1944 Farmall B was originally purchased by Karth's father Bud to be Laura's parade tractor, but she died before her family had time to finish the restoration.
In June the tractor made its debut at Big Lake's Spud Fest parade, towed by Karth Mitchell.
He offered this explanation for the Farmall's empty driver's seat: "She's driving."
The Mitchells brought several restored vintage tractors to the parade driven by various family members, but none as special as the pink Farmall.
"This gives us the healing process," said Bud Mitchell. "It's the favorite right now and it's always going to be the favorite."
