A 25-year-old soldier from Turlock died in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Monday.
Spc. Benjamin C. Pleitez passed away July 27 in Mazar E Sharif, a DOD news release says.
Pleitez was assigned to 1072nd Transportation Company, 746th Combat Support Battalion, 224th Sustainment Brigade, in Van Nuys, Calif., the department said.
The 25-year-old worked as a combat medic. He was deployed with the same transportation company in March 2012 to the Middle East, a California National Guard spokesman said.
