Two people were shot Monday night in Southeast Fresno. Less than an hour later, two suspects were arrested.

It happened around 10 p.m. near the corner of Woodrow and Kings Canyon. Police responded and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both were struck in their extremities and are expected to survive. One of them is a known gang member.

A little over a half hour later, police rushed to the area of Mono and Maple. They arrested a man and a woman, who appeared to be in their early 20's.

Police say a patrol car drove behind the suspects' vehicle. One of the people inside the car then threw a loaded firearm out of the window.

Investigators believe it's the same caliber as the gun used in the shooting less than an hour earlier, although forensic testing has yet to confirm that.

The initial suspect description was for two african americans. The two people who were arrested are hispanic.

Officers noted that it was both dark and foggy at the scene, and the eyewitness was standing a long distance away.

One of the people arrested has an active warrant for assault with a deadly weapon. He's now being held on additional felony charges until the investigation concludes.
