Five people were injured near Visalia after a driver plowed into a group of about 20 people holding a candlelight religious celebration in the middle of a dark valley road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, 21 year old Shawn Hill from Visalia ran his car into the group when he was driving north bound on Rd. 68 at Avenue 308.
Authorities say the group was celebrating the event 'Celebracion Guadalupe' and was also walking on the road in the same direction Hill was driving. No traffic control or flashlights were used by the group, the only light being candles that each person was carrying in front of their bodies was used not seen by the driver.
Five people were injured and transported to the hospital for treatment, with minor to major injuries.
